Swiss tuner Daehler introduces another vehicle in its Competition Line. The Bern-based shop tuned the BMW M235i to now produce 390 horsepower. The tuning program also includes a variety of upgrades, like the adjustable coilover suspension. The result is an immediately noticeable increase in longitudinal and lateral dynamics, the chassis can be fine tuned with 18-fold adjustable compression and rebound damping, as well as lowering the car accurately according to the driver’s needs.
The Daehler tuning program for the BMW 2 Series Coupe F22 also includes spacers, a stainless steel exhaust system, high performance brake systems, various wheel / tire combinations and interior accessories, such as an LCD screen integrated into a ventilation nozzle slot for displaying driving dynamics relevant data.

In connection with the performance increase, Daehler also removes the electronic limiter for top speed, giving the 390 hp BMW M235i Coupe a max sped of 288 km h. The compact sportscar equipped with xDrive accelerates now in just 4.2 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.

Working with BMW North America, the folks over at European Auto Source tuned up a BMW F82 M4 for the 2014 SEMA show in Vegas., European Auto Source was hired to create a full customized project, with lots of parts from the BMW M Performance Parts catalog.
Featuring a complete M Performance aero package, 359 GTS wheels and M Performance red brake calipers, this F82 M4 has been built to OEM+ specifications. The parts are supplied by BMW and they are the factory version of what other aftermarket aero companies are producing as well.
For those that aren’t familiar with these parts by now, the BMW M Performance Parts are OEM aero additions for the high-performance models that the Bavarian manufacturer currently sells worldwide.

In the last few years, BMW has brought the fight to the aftermarket shops to compete for the same customers and dollars. This project car will be displayed at the SEMA Show at the BMW North America booth space in a lineup that will feature a lot of current BMW models, M vehicles and racing cars as well.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S shows what a facelift can do 


       

Sometimes you need a second chance to get things right. Technologically, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVis a pretty cool vehicle, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and additional electric motors providing more thrust. However, the CUV never really looked the part for all of its innovation. The Mitsubishi designers are taking another crack with the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, and the vehicle shows what a massive improvement some tweaks can make.

The most obvious of these changes is the completely different front end with a more vertical design. The headlights are reshaped with LED running lights outlining them, and the new airdam that puts a massive X right on the front grille in black and chrome with some more LEDs down below. The designers don't stop there and have a major revision to the rear with taillights running all the way across. Inside, there's black wood grain trim and leather seats.

The update takes the CUV from boring to somewhat exciting, and the even better news is that some of these updates might make it to a rumored refresh in 2016 that could even come here. Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV van variant coming to Europe






Mitsubishi's Outlander Plug-in Hybrid SUV will be hitting our shores this fall. Across the Pond, however, it's heading into more no-nonsense territory. That's because the Japanese automaker is making a commercial van variant of the plug-in hybrid for the UK.

Mitsubishi will start selling a model called the Outlander PHEV GX3h 4Work in the UK,Motoring Research says. Like the SUV, the model will pair a 2.0-liter gas engine with an electric motor and will have an all-electric range of 32 miles. The difference is that the back seats will be taken out and the glass will be blacked out. Hardcore, we say. The model will be priced at 36,905 British pounds (about $61,000), though buyers are eligible for a government grant worth 7,381 pounds ($12,200).

Mitsubishi plans to start selling the Outlander PHEV stateside in Fall 2015. The company said earlier this summer that the US version will be substantially differentfrom the current version, with updates for everything from exterior and interior styling to powertrain efficiency improvements. The model had some battery-melting issues last year in Japan, though Mitsubishi ramped up its production once those problems were solved. Mitsubishi representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment about the commercial-van variant from AutoblogGreen, but we expect to be hearing more about it soon.

Mitsubishi says 2016 Outlander PHEV for US 'will be completely different'

While attending the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with Mitsubishi we got a chance to speak to three Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) executives about the Outlander PHEV, how the brand is strengthening its lineup and how it plans to promote that.

The Outlander PHEV that's quickly and quietly rolling off lots in Japan, Europe and Australia right now is not the same model we're going to get when it arrives in Fall 2015, with MMNA Executive Vice President Don Swearingen and US PR chief Alex Fedorak telling us that "it will be completely different." It can probably be viewed as the next-generation vehicle, part of the "major restyle in 2016" that will reskin the model in the new design language being applied to the brand's crossovers.
Its hybrid system is being tuned for more refinement, and the same work being done on the interior.

Fedorak told us that, "The touchy-feely points we've been getting dinged on" will be upgraded, so expect materials feels and looks less value-oriented. We were told that the battery monitoring software mandated by California regulators doesn't just report on the state of the entire pack but rather it can monitor individual cells. As for when the anticipated hybrid will get here, Fedorak said "probably late November [2015] is my best guess at this time." That's almost two years later than Mitsubishi's previous plans.

We aren't the only ones anxiously waiting for it. Swearingen said he invites 12 to 15 dealers to Mitsubishi's Normal, IL plant every quarter to discuss product and what consumers are looking for. Between that and the five-city tour of MMNA product for dealers, he said the second-most-common question was, "When can we get the Outlander PHEV?" The subject of the most popular question? "Trucks."

Those dealer confabs have apparently paid dividends as recently as the 2015 Outlander Sport. Swearingen said dealers wanted "more acceleration, better fuel economy and they said it should be quieter." All of those items were delivered when it was introduced last month, Swearingen telling us that before company engineers had received the dealers' input, "We had two out of three of them." He's in discussions to bring over the 2.4-liter engine for the Outlander Sport – currently it can only be had with a 2.0-liter – and dealers are being quizzed on what they believe it would need in order to distance itself from the 2.0. The early consensus seems to be that it will definitely need more punch for overtaking maneuvers.

When Fedorak told us, "We're probably more evolving into an SUV-/crossover-type company," that got us thinking about one thing: a Montero. Look for it to arrive in Fall 2015 as perhaps the marquee example of the new SUV/crossover design language. Hints of that are probably contained in the faces of the GC-PHEV andXR-PHEV concepts.

Even so, there will still be more cars than crossovers in the near term. As they move into their next generations, the cars will get a family design language distinct from the crossovers, which we'll see on the next Lancer and the "sleek, aerodynamic reskin" coming for the 2016-model-year Mirage hatchback. Speaking of the Mirage, Swearingen said, "The magazines beat us up about it," (Consumer Reports is the latest) "but with just 400 dealers, we're outselling the [Mazda] Mazda2 and the [Toyota] Yaris." The Yaris is actually ahead this year, but only by 265 units through the end of June. It appears all but done that theMirage sedan will come here, under the G4 name it employs in Canada instead of the Attrage moniker it uses elsewhere.

It is Francine Harsini, MMNA's director of marketing, who's working on getting the word out. After doubling the marketing spend last year to introduce the Outlander and Mirage, Swearingen said he told dealers that it would stay at the same level this year even without any launches, and adding "I would expect to grow that." Harsini said MMNA doesn't have the dollars to push each model line individually, so later this year they'll launch a new campaign for the brand using the "Find your own lane" tag that was created for the Outlander, and push the brand pillars of, "Progressive technology, spirited design and safety, value and reliability." We were told it would also be "going more into lifestyle" advertising.

Fedorak - who's been in the job eight weeks and whose resume includes work at Subaru and Kia - believes feature-per-dollar is an important part of Mitsubishi's pitch; comparing the feature set on his personal vehicle, a German luxury crossover, to those on his company Outlander, he says of the Mitsubishi, "There are strong reasons to buy."

2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Receives New Standard Equipment


The Mitsubishi Lancer hasn't been a major player in the C-segment for a long time, and as of right now a replacement is nowhere in sight. That leaves the current Lancer to continue filling the role for at least another year or two. For 2015, Mitsubishi announced a slew of updated packages and minor upgrades across all trim levels for the now seven-year-old Lancer platform.

First and foremost, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals become standard equipment across the range. The base ES Lancer receives Mitsubishi’s next-generation CVT transmission, which according to Mitsubishi, is designed to mimic a conventional seven-speed automatic transmission. For 2015, the ES also receives an available "Value Package," which includes updated and redesigned 16-inch alloy wheels, Mitsubishi’s FUSE hands-free system with USB compatibility, an updated display, chromed interior door handles, soft-touch upper-door trim, and crucially, rear disc brakes. The SE AWD Lancer receives upgraded standard equipment as well. A large chunk of the Value Package available on the ES trim becomes standard on the SE AWD, including the FUSE hands-free system, 16-inch alloy wheels, and an upgraded display. Fog lights, a new front sport fascia with color-coded bumper inserts, and a six-speaker audio system are added to the standard equipment list.


 



The Lancer GT receives but one standard equipment addition, a new white contrast seat and door stitching. However, a new Sun and Sound equipment package is introduced, including a power glass sunroof, HID headlights, and a nine-speaker 710-watt Rockford-Fosgate audio system. Not to be left out, the Lancer Ralliart gains a handful of standard equipment for 2015. HID headlights and the Rockford-Fosgate audio system are lifted from the Sun and Sound package on the Lancer GT, and now come gratis on the performance-oriented Ralliart. A set of 18-inch dark finish alloy wheels, auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlights, and rain-sensing wipers are also made standard on the Ralliart.





So far there's no word on the 2015 Lancer Evolution, though we've heard that model will end with the current-generation Evo.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will live through 2015

If it were only so easy for humans. Mitsubishi has extended the life of the Lancer Evolution X by at least a year. An MMNA spokesperson tells AutoGuide that it is "committed to introducing the 2015 model year Lancer Evolution," noting that production for said models will begin in July. This gives us a year of clarity about the future of a model whose future blinks in and out of existence quicker than a boson particle.

As far as we can tell, the Evo as we know it is definitely going to die, the question is when. In March, Mitsubishi said it "does not have any plans to design a successor with the current concept, as a high-performance four-wheel drive gasoline-powered sedan." What is rumored to fill the hole left by the Evo might or might not be a linear descendent, but is expected to be some kind of hybridized high-performance model about which much has been speculated.

MMNA PR manager Alex Fedorak told Autoblog, "Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is committed to introducing the 2015 model year Lancer Evolution in the U.S. Production of North American-specification Lancer Evolution models for the 2015 model year will commence in July 2014." Our previous advice still stands, however, even with the extension: If you want one, get an Evo while you can.

Mercedes teases upcoming AMG GT

Daimler is preparing to launch its new performance flagship, the Mercedes-AMG GT. Succeeding and slotting below the current SLS AMG, the new GT is anticipated to take aim squarely at the Porsche 911. The German automaker gave us a pretty clear picture of what the interior will look like last month, and we’ve seen spy shots of the car testing (see below), but has now returned with a teaser video and micro-site previewing the upcoming new Benz halo.
Neither video nor micro-site give us much to go on, except to say, “This is what you get when a company unleashes its creative and engineering forces to combine the absolute best of all it has done into a single, monumental, unwavering engineering achievement.” Which, when it comes down to it, is really saying quite a lot coming from an automaker like Mercedes-Benz and its power-craven AMGperformance division. “Vision Future Luxury is a concept to gauge customer appetite for a car that would cost considerably higher than the current flagship 7 Series limousine.
Originally there was the option to use an extended 7 Series model like the previous E38 7 Series LXi. But research uncovered that in markets like China there is room for a further push upmarket to connect that bridge to Rolls-Royce.

The Vision Future Luxury Concept is a five meter long vehicle, but also referred to internally as the 9 Series, aimed at a progressive ultra wealthy clients who like BMWs but feel that there is nothing more to offer. VFL could potentially rival brands such as Bentley which like BMW deliver a performance message ahead of luxury.
Vision Future Luxury is being presented at the Auto China show in Beijing as a way to test customer opinion in the world’s largest car market and by 2015 the worlds largest market for luxury cars. The Vision Future Luxury brings BMW full circle from its initial experiment with the 2007 CS Concept Car 7 years ago.
Concept CS aimed to see if the BMW brand could be stretched further upmarket bridging to the Rolls-Royce brand. Seven years later we have now arrived at that point that customers do indeed wish to see the brand stretched further upmarket.
For now the Vision Future Luxury is more than just a concept. It’s a window into the next generation BMW 7er, not just in design, but technology and engineering. The VFL heavily reflects previous BMW comments about the next 7er being the most advanced BMW to date as many feature illustrated and mentioned will arrive with the all new car.
The recent announcement of the BMW X7 is also illustrated by the Vision Future Luxury especially at a time when luxury sedans are being outsold by luxury SUVs.
The X7 brings forth the same advancements from the 7 Series to have a vehicle that must be individual and not simply be an enlarged X5. The X7 will be the epitome of a luxury activity vehicle , distinguished by individuality, and technology as the next generation 7er.
BMW’s effort comes as rival Mercedes-Benz is also testing appetite for reviving its disbanded high-end Maybach brand, although this is going to be an extended S-Class, not a bespoke model like the Vision Future Luxury BMW 9 Series
The BMW i3 and BMW i8 showed how some new BMWs can be different. Some segments have become boring and the luxury car market is one of these there is so much that can be done with wood and leather but BMW are now taking a new approach to this segment.
The next 7er can be described as a full revolution but in the way it progresses everything you have thought about a luxury car from BMW.
The next 7er has the potential to be a very different , luxury car and for BMW to become a very different brand but never forgetting about its core philosophy “Sheer Driving Pleasure”
